AI in Action: Students Taking the Lead

INSANE proudly participated in the “Natural Sciences Students: Pioneers in Artificial Intelligence” program, where students across Greece tackled various challenges by combining machine learning with real-world science.

One of these challenges, designed by Vasilis Sioros and Panagiotis Krokidas, focused on predicting the methane storage capacity of 69,840 covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-key for energy storage. Using a curated Jupyter Notebook, participants explored material properties and built predictive models. They also got hands-on experience with Kaggle, testing their ideas in a collaborative & competitive environment.

This initiative, hosted by NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” and organized by SciFY – Science For You with the support of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, is a great example of empowering young scientists to solve real-world problems with AI.
